YPSILANTI, Mich., June 15, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- Eastern Michigan University's GameAbove, an alumni-led philanthropic group that promotes academic and athletic programs, announces a $1.6 million gift to the College of Engineering and Technology (GACET) of the university. The new commitment will support the launch of a cybersecurity initiative for embedded systems, enhance offerings within cybersecurity and the Internet of Things, including research in cybersecurity for vehicles and mobility, and establish a dedicated cybersecurity certification program that addresses students and business professionals alike.

The GACET School of Information Security and Applied Computing's cybersecurity program is one of EMU's fastest growing specializations and a national leader in providing education and training to defend against cyber-attacks and protect sensitive data and personal. It was one of the first in the United States to offer a cybersecurity fellowship and earn ABET accreditation and National Security Agency (NSA) certification. The program offers undergraduate and graduate degrees and a flexible mix of online and face-to-face courses to meet the demand for personalized instruction and career-oriented students and professionals.
