MEDINA, Saudi Arabia, Feb. 15, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- The Al Madinah Region Development Authority Urban Observatory has released the Al Madinah SDG Voluntary Local Review (VLR) as the first VLR in Saudi Saudi Arabia covering nine sustainable development goals.

The Madinah VLR is in line with Saudi Arabia's commitment to the "2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development" adopted at the 2015 United Nations Sustainable Development Summit. Saudi Arabia's commitment is framed by Islamic values, the VISION 2030 of the Kingdom and its executive programs. The Madinah VLR comes as a continuation of the national efforts in the Voluntary National Review (VNR) in its first edition in 2018, titled "Towards the Sustainable Development of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia" by the Ministry of Economy and Planning.

The VLR aims to assess the current state of Madinah's sustainable development and compare it with national and international trends, enriching the localization of the SDGs in collaboration with government agencies, the private sector, the non-profit sector and civil society. of Madinah.

This VLR covers 9 SDG targets: from Goal 1 to Goal 8, and Goal 11. The report covers Madinah's state of sustainable development in many fields, such as health, education, infrastructure, environment, housing and transportation, among others.
