The reference event for professionals in the cloud, cybersecurity, big data and AI sectors incorporates this year Connectivity World, a fair dedicated to telecommunications and connectivity.

The Councilor for Local Administration and Digitalization of the Community of Madrid, Carlos Izquierdo, announces data center projects with a capacity of 621 MW, which will allow the region to equal Paris and Amsterdam in 2025.

Madrid, February 22, 2023.- CloserStill Media, a London-based company dedicated to organizing technology-related fairs worldwide, has presented a new edition of the Madrid Tech Show, the benchmark event for professionals and managers in the Spanish technological sector, which will be held on October 30 and 31, 2023 at IFEMA.

Madrid Tech Show expects to attract this year more than 15,000 professional visitors, 350 keynote speakers and more than 400 exhibiting companies from sectors such as cloud services, cybersecurity, big data, AI, electronic commerce and digital marketing.

Madrid Tech Show will incorporate a great novelty in 2023: a new sector fair, Connectivity World, which joins its extensive offer of themes and content. The need to incorporate this new sector offer arises from the importance of the telecommunications sector in Spain, which in 2022 alone had a turnover of more than 35,000 million euros.

"This is a highly digitized sector, where a large number of technologies such as AI, cloud or big data come together, and in which new ecosystems emerge every day," says Simon Blazeby, director of CloserStill Media. "Connectivity World will be the great point of interconnection between the other six fairs that make up the Madrid Tech Show", he added.

"Madrid Tech Show was born a long time ago as a great commitment by CloserStill Media to Madrid as a European technology hub and in three years we have doubled the number of visitors and exhibiting companies in each edition," said Agustín Torres, president of CloserStill Media Spain. Torres explained that Madrid is the fastest growing technology hub in Europe "and the Madrid Tech Show is the ideal partner for attracting innovative talent to the region and continuing to drive that growth".

The presentation of Madrid Tech Show 2023 has taken place in a meeting with institutional and business leaders that has had the participation of Carlos Izquierdo, Councilor for Local Administration and Digitalization of the Community of Madrid; Ángel Niño, delegate of the Area of Innovation and Entrepreneurship of the Madrid City Council; and Eva Serrano, vice president of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of Madrid.

Data centers with a capacity of 621 MW.

The Minister of Local Administration and Digitization has highlighted the growing relevance of Madrid as a European technology hub, in competition with the most important ones on the continent, such as Paris, London, Frankfurt and Amsterdam. Likewise, Izquierdo has underlined the need to attract digital talent and support the technological business fabric of the region, a strategy in which Madrid Tech Show "positions itself as a fundamental partner for our administration".

Izquierdo has taken the opportunity to reveal that the Community of Madrid has more than 15 projects for the creation of data centers that, in 2025, will place the region with 621 MW of capacity, equaling that of regions such as Paris and Amsterdam.

For his part, the delegate of the Madrid City Council's Innovation and Entrepreneurship Area, Ángel Niño, stated that the Madrid Tech Show is an example of how to attract technological talent to the city. "If we are able to position the Madrid Tech Show as one of the major international events for the technology sector, we will position the city of Madrid as the capital of innovation", he added.

Finally, the vice president of the Madrid Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services, Eva Serrano, highlighted the importance of the technology sector within the business fabric of the region and assured that the Madrid Tech Show is a fundamental event "to help our companies to advance in the digital transformation".
