Nevada, February 22, 2023.

The report also reveals that 30% seriously considered attempting suicide, indicating the urgent need to teach hope and activate an International Day of Hope.

The CDC released a new study showing that nearly 3 in 5 (57%) American teens felt persistently sad or hopeless in 2021, nearly twice as many as boys. This figure represents an increase of almost 60% and is the highest level recorded in the last decade. The staggering 1 in 3 girls considering suicide is a national crisis and calls for swift action. Science shows that hope can be taught. Kathryn Goetzke, founder of the International Foundation for Depression Research and Education (iFred) created the Hopeful Minds Curriculum, a free, global, evidence-based program that teaches young people the "what, why and how" of the hope. How can you help? iFred invites everyone to join them on the International Day of Hope on the first Monday in May (May 1, 2023) to activate the science of hope on a global scale. - Download and teach the General Lessons of Hopeful Minds so that everyone understands the "what, why and how" of hope, and download the Parent's Guide to using the language of hope at home. - Join the International Day of Hope social media campaign. - Share the completed Hopeful Minds Overview Hope Task Book images on social media, and tag @ifredorg, to teach others and spread the word messages of hope.- You can also participate in the World Challenge of Hope and publish your images or use your own. - Encourage young people to record the song "With this Hope in My Heart" and upload it to www.voicesaround.com before March 31st. (The goal is to preview the song on International Day of Hope, May 1, 2023, with "YOUR VOICES"). - Ask the mayor, governor or school to issue a proclamation for hope and inspire the leaders to become a City with Hope. - Register to collaborate in the International Day of Hope. "YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE" "Hope is tangible and teachable, and is an essential ingredient for a successful life path." - Myron Belfer, MD, MPA, Hopeful Minds Advisor and Professor of Psychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry, Children's Hospital Boston - Harvard Medical School.
