Valladolid, April 26, 2023.- The streets of the city of Valladolid will be dyed blue again next Saturday, May 20 to celebrate the Diabetes Solidarity March, a massive event that has brought together thousands of people in past editions. The walk will start at 10:30 a.m. from the facilities of the Vallsur shopping center, organizer of the march together with the Valladolid Diabetes Association (ADIVA).

The objective of this solidarity march is to raise awareness of the importance of early detection of diabetes and awareness of a life condition that affects more than one in ten Spaniards. “About 13% of the population lives with diabetes, but it is still a great unknown for most people. Raising awareness about its incidence in society is very important and a march like the one we are going to celebrate helps to give greater visibility and instill healthy lifestyle habits”, affirms Javier García, president of the Valladolid Diabetes Association.

The day will be held in a festive atmosphere since, after the march, there will be musical performances, activities for the little ones and a great raffle of gifts in the outdoor facilities of Vallsur. “One more year, we once again join forces with ADIVA to organize one of the most emblematic solidarity marches for the city of Valladolid. We want this day to become a benchmark for raising awareness and visibility of diabetes, and thus help prevent and facilitate early detection of this pathology”, explains Pablo Pérez, manager of Vallsur.

It is estimated that in Castilla y León there are more than 300,000 people with diabetes, although almost half are not diagnosed. In Valladolid, nearly 32,000 people already know that they live with a condition that requires daily care and attention that influences medical, nutritional, and emotional aspects. For this reason, awareness is essential to deal with diabetes, whose complications can be avoided or limited thanks to healthy lifestyle habits. And precisely, that will be the goal of the Diabetes Solidarity March on May 20 in Valladolid.
