ReNew's ESG performance has been ranked the best among Indian utilities and IPPs and second globally.
GURUGRAM, India, Feb. 16, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- ReNew Energy Global PLC, India's leading Independent Renewable Power Producers (IPPs) have been recognized by Refinitiv, a leading provider of financial markets data, for excellent results environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues.
Pioneering renewable energy company has scored 81.22/100 in ESG performance, leading all electric utilities and IPPs in India and second globally in FY21 -22.
Refinitiv has rated more than 12,000 companies around the world. It evaluated ReNew based on its relative ESG performance, engagement and effectiveness on critical issues such as emissions, climate change mitigation, environmental product innovation and human rights, based on published information. The index is based on metrics collected from publicly accessible sources, such as annual reports, company website data, corporate social responsibility (CSR) reports, and other data.
ReNew's carbon intensity from electricity generation is 32.83 gCO/KWh, 94% below the world average. The company has committed to becoming a net zero carbon emitter by 2040 and to meeting a broader set of ESG goals, such as water positivity, purchasing renewable energy for operations, and completely eliminating waste from landfills, among others. In addition, it intends to positively influence 2.5 million lives through CSR initiatives and guarantee a 30% representation of women in the workforce.
