RELEASE: Residencial Palau develops a pilot project of robots for the management of the residence

Barcelona, May 8, 2023.

Currently, robots have gone from being a simple technological curiosity to becoming essential tools in multiple industries and areas of daily life, and their evolution promises to revolutionize the world as it is known.

Advances in robotics have enabled the creation of increasingly sophisticated robots capable of performing complex tasks with unmatched efficiency and precision. With the advancement of artificial intelligence, robots are becoming more autonomous and can adapt to different situations quickly and efficiently. The future of robots is bright. They are expected to continue to evolve and improve in their ability to perform increasingly complex tasks and in their ability to interact with humans more naturally and efficiently. In this sense, Residencial Palau began a pilot project that promises to improve the quality of life of residents and optimize the management of the center, which was presented at the IV National Congress of Dependency and Health, by AliMarket. The objective of this project is to develop robots that can help in the management of the residence, allowing the personalization of care, the improvement of security, the reduction of the workload of the staff and, in short, the improvement of the quality of life of the residents. Among the functions planned for these robots are facial recognition, video calls, the use of management programs, the issuance of alarms in case of emergency, the location of locations and conducting medical interviews. Below, you can see the functions described in more detail: • Facial recognition: the robots will be able to identify the residents and staff of the residence. This function allows personalization of care and security in the center.• Video calls: residents will be able to communicate with their family and friends virtually, which is especially useful in situations of social isolation.• Use of management software: they will have access to a specific management program for the residence and perform administrative tasks, thus reducing the workload of the residence staff.• Alarms: the robots will be able to emit alarms in case of emergency or critical situations, which contributes to the safety of residents and residence staff.• Locating center locations: facilitating movement within the residence and the location of the different services and areas.• Anamnesis: the robots will be able to conduct interviews and collect information on the medical history of the residents, allowing more personalized and precise attention.• Voice records: the robots will be equipped with voice recognition technology to record information about residents and their needs, which streamlines administrative processes.• Others, such as internet connectivity to view videos and listen to music, information on menus and activities or guided tours. Despite the difficulties that the project faces, such as the cost of investment, the difficulty in obtaining subsidies or the dependence on the manufacturer to make changes, the initial results are very promising. Until now, it has been possible to implement records in the medical history by voice, location of the center locations and facial recognition. In addition, the robots can provide information about menus and activities, as well as take guided tours.Residencial Palau hopes to be able to implement this technology more widely in the future, and is working to overcome difficulties and make these robots a reality that improves the life of the residents. Robotics is not only the future, but it is already here and it is changing the world as we know it.
