RELEASE: REYL INTESA SANPAOLO CALLS FOR A CHANGE IN EDUCATION WITH THE LAUNCH OF A FORWARD PUBLICATION

GENEVA, Oct. 31, 2022 /PRNewswire/ -- A new report, commissioned by REYL Intesa Sanpaolo, the Swiss banking group majority owned by Fideuram - Intesa Sanpaolo Private Banking, draws attention to the challenge of educating the next generation in a digital world and lays the foundation for solutions.

The report explores how the world of global education has evolved from the pre-pandemic environment prior to the rapid shift to e-learning, looking at long overdue sweeping changes to the sector, as well as the disproportionate impact that COVID-19 19 has had on the inhabitants of the poorest communities.

Estimates from a joint report by the World Bank, UNESCO and UNICEF reveal that more than two years into the pandemic, fewer than half of countries are implementing large-scale learning recovery strategies to help children catch up. a day, despite the fact that 2 billion hours of face-to-face school have been lost worldwide due to school closures since March 2020.

FORWARD looks at how the pandemic has taken on the role of catalyst, crystallizing a decades-long revolution in communications and content delivery in education. He points out that the traditional classroom has changed irretrievably, as technology is used to translate and back-translate languages, and education is delayed and distributed at the convenience of the student.

However, while education can be accessed anytime, anywhere by a few, the report warns that the benefits of technological advances may remain inaccessible to many.

As part of the investigation, REYL also spoke with leading industry figures and academics within the field of education to delve into possible solutions to the potential education crisis facing a generation of students.

Andreas Schleicher, Director for Education and Skills, and Special Adviser on Education Policy to the Secretary General of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), told REYL Intesa Sanpaolo that it is not about building back better. "It's about building forward differently. It's about figuring out what learning might look like differently in the tech world."

Professor Jill Jameson, Professor of Education and Director of the Center for Leadership and Entrepreneurship at the University of Greenwich's School of Education, echoed this sentiment, noting: "We need a complete transformation of the entire education system."

François Reyl, CEO of REYL Intesa Sanpaolo, said: "The pandemic forced all of us to accelerate the transition towards the use of technology more than ever, and education was no exception. This report aims to examine and assess the challenges that These advances led to a better understanding of how we can mitigate the impact of lost learning hours, as well as prepare our children for the future."

Jerome Koechlin, Head of Communication at REYL Intesa Sanpaolo, added: "REYL Intesa Sanpaolo recognizes the importance of the use of digital technologies in education as a key strategic priority to drive sustainable development and equal access in education in Europe and around the world. We hope this report will draw more attention to the need to do more to help the next generation thrive."
