HANGZHOU, China, Dec. 20, 2022 /PRNewswire/ -- The first Global Digital Ecosystem Conference 2022, organized by the Hangzhou Municipal People's Government and the Zhejiang Province Department of Commerce, was held at the International Expo Center from Hangzhou on December 13, 2022. As one of the key sessions of the Global Digital Trade Expo (GDTE), some 20 guest speakers and 300 professionals from home and abroad participated onsite, with guests from New Zealand embassies and consulates, Malaysia, Thailand, the Netherlands, Egypt and Belgium, and participants from 30 countries and regions joining the online discussions.

Deputy Director of the Department of Commerce of Zhejiang Province Hu Zhenfang, Vice Secretary General of Hangzhou Municipal People's Government Xu Qingshan and Vice President of Informa Asia and General Manager of China Region Gong Kangkang delivered speeches during the opening ceremony, highlighting the important role the event plays in promoting the development of Zhejiang's digital commerce, and how they envision the event becoming a global impact platform for exchanges and collaborations.

Informa Asia Vice President Gong and Hangzhou Expo Group President Li Jian signed a strategic cooperation agreement to jointly build a global digital commerce portal, through which both companies will integrate global trade resources while will help the province build a global digital commerce hub in Hangzhou.

In the second set of sessions, Tan Jianrong, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, delivered a keynote address, followed by guest speakers discussing the best approaches to drive sustainable growth of the digital ecosystem and digital economy. During the sessions, project managers from global digital transformation giants explored many aspects of the development pathway, trends and application scenarios of digital technologies.

GDTE is a key initiative specified in 2020 by the State Council in the Zhejiang Free Trade Zone Expansion Pilot Plan. A major project designed to build a nationwide digital trade and exchange platform with an international presence that showcases achievements in building a digital economy, GDTE is currently the only official global professional meeting in China of its kind with a theme of Digital commerce approved by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council.

The inaugural edition of GDTE was held at the Hangzhou International Exhibition Center from December 11 to 14, 2022. The event was hosted by the People's Government of Zhejiang Province and the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, and organized by the Hangzhou Municipal People's Government, the Department of Commerce of Zhejiang Province and the Business Development Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce. As a key part of the GDTE, the first Global Digital Ecosystem Conference aims to boost exchanges and collaborations between upstream and downstream segments in the digital commerce sector, promote the diversity of the sustainable digital ecosystem, and ensure that China stays in the on its way to becoming a strong and sustainable digital economy by leveraging the Yangtze River Delta's competitive talent pool and its advantages in digital technology, e-commerce, AI and fintech.
