RELEASE: The Open Compute Project Launches the First OCP Experience Center in North America, Hosted by Arm (2)

BEDMINSTER, N.J., Oct. 20, 2022 /PRNewswire/ -- The Open Compute Project (OCP) launched the OCP Experience Center in November 2021 to accelerate collaboration among the OCP community through a hands-on environment to view, evaluate and learn on OCP Accepted™ and OCP Inspired™ hardware in a facility that is certified OCP Ready™. Since then, various members of the OCP community have created eight centers of expertise in the EMEA and Asia-Pacific regions. Today, OCP is pleased to announce the latest addition, and the first OCP Experience Center in North America, to be hosted by Arm, an OCP Platinum Member since 2018.

The flood of data is driving the need for more heterogeneous computing and has accelerated the rise of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and cloud-native technologies. However, these technologies perform best when the underlying computation is purpose-built for data processing at scale. Data centers, cloud and telecom providers benefit from standardized equipment in their racks for their daily operations. This requires a common set of widely accepted industry standards and certifications that can be applied to a heterogeneous computing infrastructure.

"It is exciting to see Arm increase its commitment to OCP with the launch of the first OCP Experience Center in North America. The new Arm-hosted OCP Experience Center is an example of how the community is seeding emerging markets by providing access to open technologies." said Steve Helvie, vice president of channel for OCP. With the launch of this new center, Arm has also become a Certified OCP Solution Provider, highlighting its ability to accelerate the delivery of OCP and Arm SystemReady solutions to market."

Headquartered in Bedminster, New Jersey, the OCP Center of Experience aims to share the OCP community's best practices for server and data center technology. Arm, in collaboration with Tech Mahindra, has committed to supporting this initiative by aligning the Arm SystemReady™ program with OCP requirements, customers have a clear path to deliver Arm OCP Ready™ based servers and workstations. Arm SystemReady is a widely adopted industry standards-based initiative, accompanied by a suite of conformance tests, specifications, and a certification process to ensure software only works on Arm. Companies such as ADLINK, AMI, Ampere and Wiwynn have already delivered Arm SystemReady certified devices and are key initial partners collaborating alongside Arm in the OCP Center of Experience.

"As a platinum member of OCP, Arm is committed to supporting the growing demands for computing infrastructure and we share OCP's mission of empowering openness and collaboration," said Imran Yusuf, Hardware Ecosystem Director, Infrastructure Business Line, Arm. . We expect the OCP Center of Expertise to accelerate the deployment of Arm-based data center, cloud and telecom hardware."

OCP is on a mission to apply the benefits of open source and open collaboration to hardware and rapidly increase the pace of innovation in, near, and around data center networking equipment, general purpose servers, and GPUs. , storage devices and appliances, and scalable rack designs. Beyond the data center, OCP's collaboration model also helps advance the telecommunications industry and edge infrastructure. By working with Arm on the new OCP Center of Expertise, we are able to accelerate innovation and collaboration across the Arm ecosystem and the OCP community to build a highly efficient, OCP-optimized infrastructure for cloud-to-edge environments.
