CHANGZHOU, China, April 13, 2023/PRNewswire/ -- According to TrendForce, the independent new energy research agency, the cumulative shipments of 210mm modules have exceeded 120GW, and the power of 210mm modules from n-type has exceeded 700 W. TrendForce estimates in its recent report that by 2023, large format wafers, cells and modules will account for more than 90% of total production capacity, and demand for large format products will show a strong growth.

Production capacity will exceed 90%, and 210mm modules will account for almost 60% of total production capacity

As for wafers, TrendForce forecasts a faster increase in demand for large format wafers in 2023, with its market share rapidly increasing from 83.45% in 2022 to 95.74%. By 2023, large format wafer production capacity will reach 792.4 GW, showing a stronger trend towards larger formats, while 210mm wafer production capacity will reach 320.8 GW, increasing by 74 .6%, with a market share of 38.76%.

In terms of cells, the capacity of large format cells will reach 822.3GW in 2023, which represents 94.99% of the total capacity. The capacity of the 210 mm cells will reach 587.75 GW, which represents an increase of 83.7% compared to 2022, with a market share of 67.9%.

On the module front, TrendForce forecasts a significant increase in large-format module production capacity by 2023, reaching 767 GW with a market share of around 90%. Among them, the capacity of 210mm modules will reach 508GW, an increase of 68.14% from 2022, with a market share of 59.62%, indicating continued strong growth.

Tender trends: High power modules dominate, with 89.21% large format modules.

Regarding the bidding trends, the projects clearly favor large-format modules. According to TrendForce, high-power modules are the most in demand among the nearly 129 GW of centralized procurement of PV modules announced by state-owned and state-owned companies by 2022, with large-format modules dominating. More than 115 GW of the bidding projects specifically require 182/210mm modules, accounting for 89.21%, indicating a growing demand for large-format modules, which is a key component of the industry chain. to reduce costs and increase efficiency.

Tier-1 module manufacturers' shipments in 2022 all exceeded 40GW, and cumulative shipments of 210mm modules exceeded 120GW

According to TrendForce, the shipments of the top six module manufacturers in 2022 were around 205-211 GW, accounting for 76-78% of the annual demand for 270 GW modules. Between them, LONGi, Trina Solar, and JinkoSolar shipped more than 40 GW. In 2022, large-format module shipments grew at a faster rate, accounting for more than 80% of total shipments. In the first quarter of 2023, cumulative shipments of 210mm modules had exceeded 120GW. Large format module shipments will continue to increase as market demand and production capacity grow.

Technological development: the combination of 210mm and n-type technology allows the module power to exceed 700W

The combination of large format and n-type technology has become an inevitable trend. The power of the 182 mm n-type modules goes from 500 W to 600 W, while that of the 210 mm n-type modules exceeds 700 W.

With the rapid development of large-format products and the maturity of advanced technologies such as n-type, 210mm products have already become the mainstream of the photovoltaic industry and will continue to dominate the market.
