Computer vision and machine learning graduates collect their degrees in a historic ceremony in the UAE.

ABU DHABI, UAE, Feb. 2, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- Abu Dhabi's Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) held its inauguration ceremony on January 30 with 52 students from 24 countries receiving postgraduate degrees in the key fields of AI: computer vision and machine learning.

The event was attended by S.A. Sheikh Theyab bin Zayed Al Nahyan; I KNOW. Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, UAE COP28 President Designate and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of MBZUAI; I KNOW. Following the ceremony, MBZUAI held the AI ​​and Sustainability Symposium, where AI experts discussed next-generation solutions to drive sustainability. Professor Eric Xing, MBZUAI Chair and Professor, joined Professor Daniela Rus, Director of the MIT Laboratory for Computing and Artificial Intelligence and member of the MBZUAI Board of Directors, as well as Phil Blunsom, Cohere.AI Chief Scientist and Oxford don. By the time of graduation, 63% of the inaugural class had confirmed a job, PhD, paid internship or start-up, and 91% will remain in the UAE. Female students represent around 35% of the total promotion.
