RELEASE: XCMG Launches New European All Terrain Crane - XCA120_E

BEAUNE, France, April 27, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- Chinese manufacturer XCMG has launched a new European all terrain crane, the XCA120_E 120-ton four-axle crane. The new model will be officially presented during the 2023 JDL Expo in France.

The new crane features a seven-span, 66-metre main boom, topped by a 11.65- to 18.5-metre folding jib extension, which can be moved up to 40 degrees. Two 7.1 meter truss extension sections can be added between the boom tip and tip to achieve a maximum tip height of just over 96 metres, while the maximum working radius is 60 metres. The nominal capacity of 120 tons is achieved with a theoretical radius of 2.5 meters, while with a radius of three meters the crane can handle 80 tons.

Power comes from an MTU diesel engine driving a ZF 12 TraXon transmission with 12 speeds forward and two speeds in reverse, with all three rear axles driven, while four-wheel steering and retarder are standard. The independent suspension system avoids the need for full-width axles and is similar in general concept to that used by Grove. The new crane has a total width of 2.75 metres, depending on the tyres, and a total length of just over 14.3 metres.

Outriggers have up to five working widths, from fully retracted to 3.83m, 5m, 5.9m or 7m fully extended. The maximum counterweight is 33 tons, made up of eight plates that allow for a wide variety of configurations.

The crane follows the launch at Bauma last year of the XCA60 EV 60-tonne hybrid three-axle all-terrain crane.
