Atlas repeats its alliance with Albras, the largest aluminum producer in Brazil, in an unprecedented 21-year US dollar power purchase agreement.
SAO PAULO, April 27, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- Atlas Renewable Energy, a leading international renewable energy company, has just entered into a power purchase agreement with Albras, Brazil's leading aluminum producer. Under this US dollar contract, Atlas will supply sustainable solar energy to Albras for 21 years, representing the longest term for the longest corporate renewable energy purchase agreement to date in Latin America.
The Vista Alegre photovoltaic project, whose start of operations is scheduled for 2025, will be in charge of supplying energy to Albras under this contract. Located in the state of Minas Gerais, the plant will have a nominal capacity of 902 MWp and will generate approximately 2 TWh per year, which is equivalent to removing more than 61,800 cars from the streets of Sao Paulo and offsetting approximately 154,000 tons of CO emissions. year.

With this new energy purchase agreement, the alliance between Atlas and Albras will allow the generation of an amount of renewable energy equivalent to that needed to feed a city of around 3 million inhabitants, such as Brasília, for example.
In addition, Atlas' Vista Alegre plant will implement socio-environmental programs in order to generate long-term benefits and promote sustainable practices in the surrounding communities. The program contemplates the training of women from the towns near the plant in technical skills and the mobilization of Atlas contractors to include them in their recruitment processes.
