Beatriz reviewed the environmental indicators of the year and the good results obtained in its application to circular economy policies, an example of good practice is the implementation and certification in the plant of the Energy Management System according to the UNE-EN 50001:2018 standard. The meeting highlighted the agreement recently reached in the European Union on the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), one of the key historical demands of the cement industry, because it will guarantee a balanced treatment of imports in all member countries. This mechanism will also avoid the unequal competition that exists between the national and international markets, in imports of cement and clinker from countries that do not apply CO2 emission reduction policies and that operate with lower costs, harming the national market. and to the health of the planet. The Mataporquera factory, a benchmark in circular economy at a national and European level, The Cementos Portland Valderrivas factory in Cantabria is one of the most advanced in replacing fossil fuels with fuels derived from waste at a national level with a percentage replacement of 61%, given that the national average is estimated at 37%.
