- Xinhua Silk Road: East China's Jiangsu Lianyungang holds China-Europe Express Railway Cooperation Forum

BEIJING, Sept. 19, 2023/PRNewswire/ -- The China-Europe Railway Express Cooperation Forum was held on Friday in Lianyungang, east China's Jiangsu Province, and about 500 representatives from 29 countries and regions gathered at the coastal city to share ideas on how to further advance the high-quality development of China-Europe rail express and expand cooperation in areas such as trade and investment, cultural exchanges and land-sea connectivity.

As one of the events marking the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), the forum has witnessed the launch of the China Railway Express (CR Express) website, a portal that will not only serve as a window important in getting China-Europe rail express information, but also provides additional support for businesses using China-Europe rail express services.

As a flagship project and flagship brand of the BRI, the China-Europe railway express has injected new impetus into regional economic development and ensured the stability of international industrial and supply chains, experts said.

The forum, themed "Deepening interconnectivity and promoting mutually beneficial cooperation", was organized by the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Transportation, the General Administration of Customs, the China State Railway Group and several local governments.

It should be noted that Jiangsu is one of the first provinces in China to launch the railway express between China and Europe. The data shows that 1,504 trips were made in the first eight months of this year, in which a record 214 trips were made in August alone.

Located in China's central coastal area, Lianyungang is the eastern terminus of the 10,900-kilometer-long New Eurasian Land Bridge, an international passage linking the Pacific and the Atlantic. As a strong support point of Belt and Road cooperation, Lianyungang carries out major projects such as the China-Kazakhstan Logistics Cooperation Base and the SCO International Logistics Park (Lianyungang).
