JAKARTA, Indonesia, Dec. 8, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- Indonesian President Joko Widodo presided over the opening of BRI's UMKM EXPO(RT) BRILIANPRENEUR 2023, held at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) on the 7th December 2023. This event, which is also part of the bank's 128th anniversary celebrations, served as a platform for Indonesian MSMEs to interact with international buyers and foster MSME growth. Under the theme 'Creating Global Connection', 700 MSMEs participated in the three-day event, marking the prestigious fifth edition of this exhibition.
The president praised the BRI's commitment to empowering Indonesian MSMEs, saying: "Our MSMEs must continue to raise their status, digitize, internationalize and dominate our local market because our market is tremendously large, but also without neglecting global and international markets. export".
State Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir also praised the BRI programs, highlighting the success of initiatives like this event in stimulating the economy and stating: "This is an economic cornerstone. With the support of the BRI, MSMEs that "show strong performance reflect positively on actual business activities within the society, fostering economic growth. Furthermore, BRI exhibits commendable banking performance."

Over the years, the exhibition's commercial deals have shown notable growth: from $33.5 million in 2019 to $57.5 million in 2020, further increasing to $72.1 million in 2021 and reaching $76.7 million in 2022. This year's goal is to secure contracts for a total of $80 million.
With 700 MSMEs selected from across the country in five categories: home decor and crafts, food and beverages, accessories and beauty, fashion and textiles, and healthcare and wellness. The BRI UMKM EXPO(RT) BRILIANPRENEUR 2023 aims to connect Indonesian MSMEs with global markets, encouraging their expansion and strengthening domestic exports. It underlines the BRI's commitment to uplift MSMEs and showcase the competitiveness of Indonesian products on the global stage.
