PARIS, Dec. 6, 2022 /PRNewswire/ -- With the holidays just weeks away, Sojern - the first digital marketing platform dedicated to tourism professionals - reveals the latest travel trends for Christmas 2022. While plans Holidays last year were faltering at best due to the Omicron variant, the end of 2022 could well mark a return to normal tourism levels, despite the unprecedented inflation facing Europe .

CHRISTMAS IN PARIS: THE HAPPINESS OF THE HOLIDAYS

The latest data shows a 10% increase in domestic flight searches in France compared to the beginning of this year, while inbound international flight searches grew 27% overall*.

Île-de-France remains the number one destination in France for national and international travelers in 2022. Specifically, 60% of travelers visiting France on vacation will go to Paris, and only 9% to the Provence region- Alps-Côte d'Azur. This trend is also reflected in online hotel searches for 2022, with Île-de-France accounting for 57% of all searches, followed by Grand Est (11%).

AMERICAN TRAVELERS ARE BACK IN STRENGTH

France has always been one of the favorite destinations for American tourists. Based on search data for flights to France by the end of 2022, the top 10 countries of origin remain substantially similar to those of 2021. However, the United States has come back strongly this year, moving from fifth to second place, likely taking advantage of the rise of the greenback against the euro. This is also supported by Sojern's observations for other EU countries, such as Italy (ranked 2), Spain (ranked 4th) and the UK (ranked 1st).

* Results based on flight data from November 2022
