An important date for this historic vehicle, the Renault 4CV, better known as the 4/4, which was the first model manufactured at FASA and the first utility vehicle made in Spain, which was manufactured only in the city of Valladolid between 1953 and 1959, becoming the the main promoter of the expansion of the automobile in Spain.

This exhibition can be visited at the Valladolid shopping center from March 29 to April 22. During these days, four vehicles of this model dating from that period will be on display, including the oldest 4/4 that is still in circulation at this time, manufactured at FASA in January 1954 and with registration number VA-5657, which is in a perfect state of maintenance, as well as restored and recovered models, also manufactured on those dates, which are still in operation and which have been restored for your enjoyment. In addition, the exhibition will be accompanied by information and photographs of aspects related to this vehicle.

To inaugurate the exhibition, Luis Ángel Vélez Santiago, General Delegate Councilor for Mobility and Urban Space; José Manuel Fuentes, director of the Valladolid assembly factory; Carmen Rodríguez Jiménez-Alfaro, president of the Rombo Cultural Association; Argimiro Ferreras Martín, a FASA worker in 1953 with company number 201; Fernando Casas Arnaiz, former FASA worker with company number 404 and year of entry 1954; Pablo Pérez, manager of Vallsur; as well as the owners and restorers of the 4/4 cars on display.

The attendees have taken a tour of the exhibition and have been able to get to know these iconic vehicles up close. "The Renault 4/4 was quite a revolution in its time and was declared 'Asset of Cultural Interest' by the Junta de Castilla y León in 2004. With this very special exhibition we want to pay tribute to this car with 70 years of history and so characteristic of our city”, affirms Pablo Pérez, manager of Vallsur.

From the Rombo Cultural Association, which works to recover, promote and publicize the history of this vehicle, its president Carmen Rodríguez Jiménez-Alfaro highlights: "The small 4 CV, popularly known as 4/4 because of its four doors, four seats , four cylinders and four horsepower, prevailed at this time despite the reluctance that its rear engine aroused at first, and which nevertheless made it the perfect vehicle for the Spanish geography”.

Its use also went beyond the scope of private service: "It was used in driving schools, workshops, taxis, and even had notable participation in rallies and sports events, which made it the symbol of a city and of a time in the history of Spain”, adds Carmen Rodríguez Jiménez-Alfaro.

This is how April 18, 1953 became a historical reference date for current Valladolid. It was then that the FASA chain came out with the first utility manufactured entirely in Spain. The first units manufactured in Valladolid have six bright stripes on the front, an oval badge with the FASA name inside the hood and the Valladolid shield in the center of the steering wheel.
