AMAVIR, one of the main companies specialized in caring for the elderly and dependent people in Spain with a presence in 7 Autonomous Communities and with 43 active residences, has carried out a process of digitizing the workplace using the UDS desktop virtualization software Enterprise by Virtual Cable. Last month, Ibor Rodríguez, Director of Systems and Technology at AMAVIR, explained in detail the implemented project in his presentation at OpenExpo Europe 2023. This strategic choice allows AMAVIR to virtualize Linux desktops, which translates into significant cost savings on licenses and other additional benefits derived from the use of open and free technologies. One of the highlights of the presentation was the ability to access secure and constant to highly sensitive information provided by UDS Health. In the event of any incident, doctors, nurses and other health personnel can access the medical records of the residents regardless of the time of day, from anywhere and using any device, without the need for the company to provide computer equipment for remote use.In addition to allowing centralized updating and management from a single console of all the software used in the organization, the UDS Health solution guarantees data security and patient privacy, fundamental aspects in the healthcare environment. On the other hand, the high turnover of personnel in the sector is addressed through the quick and easy deployment of new jobs based on templates, allowing AMAVIR to adapt quickly to personnel changes, guaranteeing an uninterrupted quality service to users of residences and day centers.
