Following a veto by US President Trump, Broadcom has abandoned the plan to take over the US competitor Qualcomm. But the company wants to move to the USA.

After President Donald Trump's veto, chip manufacturer Broadcom has officially withdrawn its offer for takeover of its US competitor Qualcomm. "Even if we are disappointed by this result, we will stick to it", Singapore-based company shared with us. Broadcom had offered 117 billion dollars to take over – it would have been by far most expensive takeover in technology industry.

Trump had blocked sale with a reference to a threat to national security and thus followed a recommendation from Committee for Foreign Investment in US (CFIUS). In case of foreign takeovers, panel examines wher y endanger national security of United States.

In case of Broadcam and Qualcomm, such a Test concluded that a takeover could delay changeover of US mobile networks to wireless 5g. Qualcomm is an important developer of technologies for this fast mobile. Connections from Broadcom subsidiaries to China are said to have been crucial to veto trumps – US fears that it will be in field of radio communications depending on China. Broadcom had rejected security concerns and initially announced to consider Trump's arrangement. But now company is starting to fight for takeover of Qualcomm in court.

Broadcom, however, believes in his plans to RedieUSA company's headquarters. In April, shift from Broadcom to California is to be completed. Analysts expect Broadcom to now take on or smaller companies in industry. By laying desFirmensitzes from Singapore to US, Broadcom is likely to become easier to buy US companies in future: because if only domestic companies were involved, national security could no longer be a cause for authorities to take over Prevent.

In chip industry, mergers have been increasing for some time because competition for leadership in new technologies is expensive. Qualcomm is currently also working to take over denniederländischen rivals NXP. In its current form, Broadcom itself has emerged from a milliardenschwerenÜbernahme.
