Untertürkheim: Daimler works council distances itself from extreme right

The works council of Daimler plant, Untertürkheim, is concerned about right-wing extremist workers in its own ranks in face of pending operational elections. Several media had reported in recent weeks, in local works council, representatives who harbored sympathy for National Socialism. The employee representatives of largest Daimler plant now explained this: "The works council dissociates itself strictly from all right-wing radical and neo ideas." Extreme right-wing activities and ir involvement in Neo deeds, as well as media reports on m, harmed works council and workforce and threatened jobs.

"The Untertürkheim work is now appearing in media as a reservoir for neo-Nazis and a centre of extreme right-wing extremism," he said furr in declaration. The communication also says that organisation Zentrum Auto – An association that provides members of works council and is running for next elections – wants to make work of Untertürkheim a flagship project with a nationwide role model character.

Oliver Hilburger, who has been working as a works council at Daimler for a long time, and his colleagues are supposed to have played in bands from right-wing extremist scene, have been members of NEO youth organisations or have recently been among ors occurred at AfD events.

As is clear from self-portrayal of splinter trade union on Internet, Zentrum Auto has goal of combating dominant IG Metall. It raises union's pact with management to detriment of its workforce. In addition, Zentrum Auto wants to prevent relocation of jobs abroad according to its own data and is opposed to "labor export", "co-management" and "wage waiver as a means of blackmail".

"In everyday work, do not get out of right"

Candidates from centre are available for election in several German Daimler factories as well as at BMW in Leipzig or at Opel in Rüsselsheim. While works council Untertürkheim of organization accuses xenophobic statements at ir events, four centre works councils behave inconspicuously at representation of interests in factory according to works council information. "In everyday work y do not go out as a right, but rar give mselves normal," declared General Works council chairman Michael Brecht.

Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche has already expressed concern about development. The company has no handle, however, as long as re is no work-related or criminally relevant misconduct in operation. "We are closely observing development," explained company. "We stand for Freedom-democratic basic order and expect all employees to live tolerance in ir daily work."
