Vatican: Pope unveils social media rules for nuns

The pope warned religious women not to waste ir time on social media. Nuns should use Facebook and Twitter with "seriousness and discretion" – not only in terms of content, but also on amount of information, it is said in new guidelines for contemplative women's orders published by Vatican.

Modern means of communication could be used in monasteries for information, education or work. But y should serve religious life and not be a "cause for wasting time". This was reported among or things to Vatican news, news page of Holy See.

The instructions come from a document published a few days ago by Vatican, titled Cor Orans (Praying heart). The document sets out how members of contemplative women's orders are to implement 2016 Apostolic constitution adopted by Pope Francis for m. Changes are to be made in twelve areas, from prayer to working life of nuns.

Around 38,000 nuns live in contemplative orders worldwide, said Archbishop José Rodríguez Carballo Vatican news, according to presentation of guidelines. This means that nuns live in monasteries and devote mselves to prayer.
