Cumberland County College signs agreement with Georgian Court University

VINELAND — Cumberland County College officially began its partnership Wednesday with Georgian Court University — with both presidents signing the agreement.

The agreement with Georgia Court University allows access to university degree programs on the campus. The partnership is centered around the university's social work degree program.

Which now lets Cumberland County College fall 2017 social work graduates to enter the university program as juniors.

"This is a tremendous opportunity for students and professionals to obtain a GCU degree without ever leaving Cumberland County," said Dr. Yves Salomon-Fernandez, president of Cumberland County College, in a statement. "It provides the excellence in undergraduate programs that Georgian Court University is known for with the convenience of staying local."

"Georgian Court University is a transfer-friendly institution," said Dr. Joseph Marbach, president of the university, in a statement. "We look forward to expanding the possibilities for the community by being affordable and accessible to students in Cumberland County."

Cumberland County College already has agreements in place with Fairleigh Dickinson University, Wilmington University, Montclair State University and Seton Hall University.

Georgian Court University is a Roman Catholic institution located in Lakewood.

Information sessions about the the program are scheduled for March 13 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. to April 29 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Cumberland County College's University Center.
