NEW BRUNSWICK -- Rutgers University Police Department is investigating a report of a swastika drawn on a dry erase board in a campus residence hall, according to the university's student newspaper.

The drawing was reported to staff at Clothier Hall on Feb. 2, The Daily Targum reported. It was seen on a dry erase board on the first floor study lounge of the George Street residence hall, a widely visible public space.

Along with Rutgers Police, the university's Bias Incident Response Team (BIRT) was also notified, according to the report. The BIRT team is a group of University employees charged with investigating reported bias incidents.

Students are encouraged to come forward with any information about the drawing, the report said.
