Chance the Rapper announces tour; no Chicago dates

The post-Grammys tour announcements keep coming. Chance the Rapper announced a tour Tuesday, one that starts and ends in California, spans almost 40 dates but has one conspicuous absence.

Chicago.

This is leading to speculation, given the very high profile for Chance the Rapper, fresh off a Grammy Awards haul that included best new artist, that he will be playing Lollapalooza or the Pitchfork Music Festival, the two big Chicago summer music events.

Pitchfork is July 14-16, again at Union Park. Lollapalooza will be Aug/ 3-6 in Grant Park. The latter event is known for contractual "radius clauses," that often restrict performers from touring in the host city within a specified time period before and after Lollapalooza.

The tour calendar for Chance the Rapper has him playing in Dover, Del., on June 17. The next date is Oct. 3, the tour finale, in Los Angeles.
