Jon Stewart isn’t horsing around.

The former “Daily Show” host and noted animal lover, who owns a 12-acre animal sanctuary in Middletown, NJ, adopted a white mare named Lily on Friday, rescuing the horse from years of abuse.

Lily first made headlines in March, after the emaciated, half-blind pony was found in New Holland Sales Stables in Lancaster County, Pa., covered with more than 100 colorful marks from what appeared to be a paintball gun.

The horse’s owner, Philip Price, Jr., 65, was attempting to auction off the animal.

Price was convicted Friday of five charges of animal cruelty regarding his handling of Lily. He faces $3,056 in fines and $10,176 in medical costs for the horse.

Kelly Smith of Omega Horse Rescue — who first discovered Lily and had been caring for her since — posted news of the animal’s new home on Facebook Friday. Stewart, 53, and his wife founded the sanctuary, dubbed Bufflehead Farm, in 2013.

They currently house cows, pigs, sheep, goats and chickens, as well as a handful of horses.
