Moby says Trump administration being blackmailed by Russians | Toronto Star

Baffled and uncertain watchers of the new U.S. Republican presidential administration might be pining for a source of inside information regarding its plans and priorities. They just might have one, in the form of a 51-year-old, world-famous vegan DJ.

The Facebook page for Moby, whose 1999 album Play went platinum in seven different countries, was updated Monday with a post apparently from the musician, stating that he had spent “the weekend talking to friends” who work in Washington, D.C. and passing along allegations from them, including that President Donald Trump is “being blackmailed by the russian (sic) government, not just for being peed on by russian hookers, but for much more nefarious things … the trump administration is in collusion with the russian government, and has been since day one.”

The DJ goes on to claim that the administration hopes to provoke a work, “most likely” with Iran, and both right-wing American groups and “intelligence agencies around the world” are at work trying to get rid of the just-arrived U.S. president.

“i’m writing these things so that when/if these things happen there will be a public record beforehand . . . these are truly baffling and horrifying times, as we have an incompetent president who is essentially owned by a foreign power,” he concludes.

Moby’s 13th album, These Systems are Failing, came out last year. He has often commented on current events, notably on Sept. 11, 2001 — his birthday — when the then-Manhattan resident posted a diary entry on his website:

“I just woke up to the sound of an explosion and people screaming. So I ran to my roof to see both buildings of the World Trade Center on fire and now I can’t stop shaking and my apartment smells like smoke. What has happened. I don’t know what to say. What has happened? Oh god.”
