Lampedusa, an Italian island located in the south of the Boot, is overcrowded with migrants from North Africa, has alerted Saturday, the local mayor, Toto Martello. "The situation has become unmanageable. If the government does not do so, I declared myself the state of emergency"-he said to the Italian news agency ANSA.
