Turkey announced on Sunday that it would extend its research of gas fields in a disputed area of the eastern Mediterranean, ignoring the calls of the european Union to the de-escalation.

In a notice to shipping (Navtex), published in the night from Saturday to Sunday, the Turkish navy indicates that the drill ship Yavuz, deployed off the coast of Cyprus for several months, will conduct research in the south-west of the island from 18 August to 15 September.
