A sterilization program conducted in the american State of North Carolina between 1929 and 1974 was targeted specifically to Black americans and corresponded to the definition of genocide, according to a study published this week.

Nearly 7.600 men, women and children sometimes the age of 10 years, have undergone surgical sterilization in the context of a program created to serve "the public interest" by preventing people "weak-minded" from reproducing.
