It is with great caution that the Senate has addressed, Tuesday, the draft law introducing the tax on digital, better known under the name of "tax Gafa" and scope by the minister of Economy, Bruno Le Maire. In its report on the text, Albéric de Montgolfier (LR) pointed out that this new levy of 3 % on a portion of the turnover achieved in France groups digital "continues imperfectly a relevant purpose". Namely, taxing the thirty companies that make more than 750 million euros of turnover in the world, including 25 million in the Hexagon, and which escape the tax on companies in France.
Very specifically, the levy of 3 % will be the activity of intermediation between users and targeted advertising - which includes the sale of personal data. The tax therefore bears a bad nickname, because these two activities are not large-thing in the turnover of Amazon.
