Inside America’s biggest IKEA

More than a thousand people showed up to the opening of IKEA’s largest store in the US on Wednesday.
Located in Burbank, Calif., the new shop is 456,000 square feet, features 1,700 parking spaces and sits across 22 acres.

The massive crowd got rowdy, with people accusing each other of cutting in line when only the first 26 people who entered received free sofas. Meanwhile, the next 100 shoppers got armchairs and the first 2,500 visitors received prize envelopes for goodies such as food gift cards.

Loving the brand new Ikea cafe in Burbank. Largest Ikea in the country. This cafe seats 600. This is just part of it. #ikea #Burbank #swedish #cafe #

Good thing, too. The store also features a 600-seat restaurant, which includes affordable menu items like a $2 Swedish-American breakfast and $2.50 Swedish pancakes, reports Curbed. Instead of ribbon cutting, Burbank Mayor Jess Talamantes sawed a log in half, per Swedish custom, to officially open the store.
