Each week the federal department of Public Health publishes a weekly report more detailed, providing significant information on the evolution of the pandemic in the country. An indicator is particularly examined : the mortality surveillance. Comparing with the average of deaths in previous years, we can estimate the number of deaths related to the coronavirus.

"The total number of deaths from all causes has started to increase from march 16, with 2.545 observed deaths for week 12, which represents a significant excess of 270 additional deaths and 11.9 % of excess mortality on the basis of the last five years," the report explains.
