Clintons spent nearly $1.3M renovating their homes: report

Bill and Hillary Clinton have spent $1,284,347 to renovate two mansions they own — one in Washington, DC, and the other in Chappaqua in Westchester County — including the addition of an additional passenger elevator, according to permits detailing the renovations.

News of the renovations comes less than a week after The Post exclusively reported the Clintons had purchased the home next door to their Chappaqua mansion for $1.16 million.

The Clintons purchased their first home outside the government housing they had enjoyed — while Bill Clinton served first as governor of Arkansas and then as US president, living in the governor’s mansion and then the White House — in 1999 for $1.7 million in Chappaqua.

Building permits show the Clintons have spent $376,000 in renovations for the New York home — bought so that Hillary Clinton would have residence in the state when she ran for Senate in 2000. The alterations include a $100,000 porch and kitchen in 2001 — soon after moving into the five-bedroom, four-bathroom home.

In 2002, the Clintons renovated their swimming pool — for $56,000, the records show — and spent an additional $45,000 that year to add a gym and library in the home’s carriage house. Additionally, the Clintons spent $25,000 in 2002 to renovate the home’s chimney.

Almost a decade later, the Clintons went on another renovation spree, spending $150,000 to do some structural repairs, renovate the master bathroom, and replace windows, costing $150,000.

The Clintons have spent significantly more, about $908,347, in their Washington home — which was bought in 2000 for $2.85 million.

The biggest expense was a one-story addition to the mansion in 2005 at a cost of $833,927, according to records, and a $45,000 one-story poll house.

In July 2001, the Clintons installed a “personal use” passenger elevator in their Washington home.

The building permits were obtained from open records by the Republican National Committee.
