Longest stretch of 90-degree heat since 2013 forecast this week in Baltimore

Meteorologists are forecasting highs in the 90s into the weekend, potentially Baltimore's longest stretch of such heat in three years.

Temperatures are forecast to climb into the lower 90s Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, and potentially the mid-90s on Thursday.

Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport has hit the 90s seven times this year -- twice in May and five times in June. That is on par with each of the past three years, but many fewer than were tallied in the hot summers of 2010 through 2012.

The longest heat wave in recent years came when highs hit the 90s, and mostly the mid-90s, for a week straight from July 15-21, 2013, at BWI.

The longest stretch of 90-degree heat since then came on the first four days of September 2015, when the airport twice hit 94 degrees. Otherwise, the region has not had to endure more than three days in a row of 90-degree temperatures in recent years.

Baltimore hasn't hit the triple digits since July 2012.
