AKRON, Ohio -- A 25-year-old man was shot dead Monday night on Akron's West Side, police said.

The shooting happened just after 11 p.m. on Rhoda Court at the Bon Sue Apartments, Akron police Lt. Rick Edwards said.

Officers found the victim lying on the sidewalk in front of the apartment complex with a gunshot wound.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not released a motive and the shooter has not been identified, Edwards said.

The victim's name is not being released until the family is notified, he said. The Summit County Medical Examiner's Office will conduct the autopsy.
