At least 18 civilians have been killed in the terrorist attack on a luxury hotel in the Afghan capital. The Taliban claimed the deed for themselves.

In an attack on one of largest hotels in Afghan capital Kabul, at least 18 people were killed, among m 14 foreigners. Moreover, all six attackers were killed in an hour-long schusswechsel with security forces, a spokesman of Ministry of Interior shared. Eleven of civilians killed were reported to be employees of private Afghan airline KamAir. At least six of foreigners were Ukrainians, as foreign minister Pavel Klimkin said.

More than 150 people were rescued from hotel, said ministry spokesman. He declared use after 13 hours for finished. A DPA reporter on site, however, also heard Späternoch furr explosions from hotel. Furrmore, number of victims is "much higher" than what government spokespersons officially said. The assassins were looking for foreigners and government officials and n shooting.

The attacking men, according to Ministry of Interior, had invaded hotel shortly after 9pm local time from back through kitchen. They would have set fire in kitchen and n holed up on fourth and fifth floors. The building had been shot, but no detonations had been heard.

In a confession spread by mail, radical Islamic Taliban claimed attack. Wher y are actually responsible for attack was initially unclear.

Taliban attacked hotel already 2011

The number of guests in hotel was unclear at first, as was reason for attack. The hotel was supposed to have a wedding party. The broadcaster 1TV reported that a conference was held in hotel on day of Afghan computer experts. About 100 people would have participated, apparently also government officials.

The hotel had already been attacked 2011. At that time, nine militants of radical Islamic Taliban invaded building and killed 21 people. The Afghan capital is being repeatedly shaken by attacks and assaults.

Dead in furr attacks

Addition attack on hotel re were furr attacks in Afghanistan on weekend. Thus, at least twelve people died in explosion of an explosive body on a road in West Afghan province of Herat. Anor one was injured. In addition, 18 members of a regierungstreuenMiliz were killed in province Balch in norrn Afghanistan, for which Taliban claimed responsibility.

There was also an attack in province of Farah. According to DortigenPolizeichef Mahruf Folad, a bomb explosion killed Einenstellvertretenden police chief and injured four or policemen.

In 2017 alone, re were more than 20 attacks by Taliban and terrorist militia of Islamic State (IS), and more than 500 people died.
