Fire attack in Ulm: Three arrests after attack on mosque

Just three weeks after fire attack on a Turkish mosque in Ulm, police arrested three or suspects. In total, seven men are now in custody, six from Syria and one from Turkey. This was shared by Stuttgart Public Prosecutor's Office and Ulm Police. All seven were Kurds and refugees came to Germany.

The Tatmotiv is likely to be "seen in Turkish military offensive on Afrin," Public prosecutor shared. For first time, she expressed herself on motive for attack. In norrn Syrian region of Afrin, Turkish army has been going against Kurdish militia YPG since January – with disastrous humanitarian consequences for predominantly Kurdish population.

In Ulm, on night of March 19th, a fire bottle had hit a window on ground floor of multi-storey house where mosque is located. According to police, witnesses had noticed and reported fire. Eight people stayed in building to Tatzeit. No one was injured.

The prosecution accused four of seven arrested attempted murder and attempted arson. The three ors are to be responsible for participation. The detainees are between 18 and 34 years old. In case of conviction, y threaten multi-year prison sentences. One of men has now confessed to deed. The ors are silent on accusations.

According to findings of investigation group, seven people were involved in fire attack. The evaluation of seized mobile phones and or electronic storage media is still taking.
