India: Third rape and incineration within a week

A 16-year-old was raped and burned in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. Previously, there had been two similar crimes in the state of Jharkand.

In India, for third time in a week, a teenager has been raped and burned. A 16-year-old was abused in central India in state of Madhya Pradesh and burned alive, as police report. The suspected perpetrator, a 26-year-old family far, was arrested.

The girl had told him before that she wanted to tell her parents about rape. Also a cousin of girl was arrested. He should have informed alleged offender that his relatives were alone at home.

Previously, similar attacks against a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old had become known in East Indian state of Jharkhand. One girl died, or is still in danger of life. In April, re had been nationwide protest after gang rape and assassination of an eight-year-old Muslim girl became public. The government n ordered imposition of death penalty for rapists of children under age of twelve.

Already 2012 penalties for sex crimes had been significantly tightened after group rape of a student on a bus in New Delhi caused mass protests. In 2016, approximately 40,000 rape cases were reported in India. However, dark figure is likely to be higher, as in case of an ad, social exclusion is often imminent.
