A shooting in Joliet late Sunday left a woman dead, her 4-year-old daughter grazed and the woman's brother seriously wounded, according to police.
Police responded to a call of shots fired around 10:35 p.m. on Washington Street just east of Richards Street, authorities said.
Officers found a 22-year-old man covered in blood who told them he had been shot near his elbow, according to Joliet Deputy Police Chief Alan Roechner. Officers found his sister near a vehicle, unresponsive and bleeding from the head.
Inside the vehicle was 4-year-old girl with a graze wound to her knee and a 2-month-old child who was not injured, Roechner said.
The woman was taken to Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, where she was pronounced dead at 11:08 p.m. She was identified as Dinesty Tillman, according to the Will County coroner's office.
The 22-year-old man and the girl were taken to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center.
Roechner said Tillman was the mother of the children found in of the vehicle.
