Nice: Extreme right-wing meeting under palm trees

AT 34; Feast of Nations 34; Right-wing extremist parties have gathered from all over Europe. How do nationalists, who want to put their own country above everything, celebrate?

Nice: Extreme right-wing meeting under palm trees

At coffee stand at an event of European extreme right. The young man in white shirt smiles. "Madame, you first. First Frenchwomen, n French. "–" I am German. " The man shrugs his shoulders. At coffee He also made a German woman step, but only exceptionally. "Here is France now." Such talks lead to who stands in line at Feast of Nations. The party in sourn French port town of Nice had proclaimed group of right-wing extremist parties in Strasbourg Parliament MENL. It now comprises 36 members.

And actually it was not a celebration, but rar a speech marathon of right-wing extremist party leaders from Strasbourg. Until y started dancing a few meters from coffee stand a folklore group with lace bonnet and lavender costumes a provencal ringing dance. Posters from old towns in Stockholm and Amsterdam are to be attuned to European traditions. And in main hall, meanwhile, French nationalists sing one Marseillaise after anor. They wield ir Belgian, Polish, French and Austrian flags.

The most prominent speaker of afternoon was hostess Marine Le Pen, head of French Front National. It wants to change "Europe out of European Parliament". Le Pen made it to runoff of French presidential election a year ago, but since n has not found much attention in France. Perhaps that is why she had invited her European colleagues to assist her on 1 May. Traditionally, National Front is marching through French capital to day of work. This time, however, le Pens party chose not streets of Paris, but grey fair halls of Nice. After all, ir most euphoric followers live here, and in elections y often get 40 percent.

A me unites all right-wing extremist parties

How are nationalists now celebrating, who all want to put ir own country above everything, wher at coffee stand or on bench of deputies? By praising ir own Europe. The Greek Failos Kranidiotis, for example, sees two important pillars for Europe: Ancient Greece and Christianity. The Bulgarian Veselin Mareshki would like to be represented in Strasbourg Parliament because EU had nuclear power stations shut down in its homeland. The Czech Tomio Okamura warns of "centralists" in Brussels, which "just like Nazis" exerted a unified power over Europe and wanted to destroy cultural heritage of its ancestors. Some speakers praise US President Donald Trump, ors see him as an opponent of ir national interests.

In fact, re is only one subject that unites all right-wing extremist parties: rage on refugees. With every warning from migrants, thunderous applause flares up. Finally, Franco-Italian border at Nice always clashes with refugee workers and right-wing extremists. Just a few days ago, adherents of Identitarian movement had an orange plastic fence over a snowy alpine pass to prevent refugees from immigrate to France. Even in sparse Congress Hall, majority of male spectators voted motto of all nationalists: "On est chez nous", which corresponds roughly to slogan "Germany Germans". The pole Michał Marusik brought it to formula: "Refugees must accept our laws – this also includes cleanliness." Marusik finished his speech with a "God bless Righteous."

The worst enemy is EU

The Movement for a Europe of nations and freedoms MENL founded after last European election in year 2014 and includes right-wing extremist parties from eight EU countries. Curiously, it is not AfD represented in Germany, but split blue Party of Frauke Petry. A picture of her emblazoned even on invitation to feast – but she was not actually present. Only her husband, Marcus Pretzell, was elected to European Parliament on AfD ticket and now sits as a "blue" in right-wing extremist faction. Probably out of consideration of gap between AfD represented in Bundestag and member of Blue in MENL no German right in Nice appeared.

The worst enemy of MENL is ir speeches to European Union anyway. Rolf Neman, Bundestag group chief of MENL, gave tone: European Union, according to Belgian nationalist of Vlaams Belang, is made up of fanatical federalists. "The differences between peoples of Europe are enormous and should remain so."

The meeting among Palms is also prelude to fight for places in European Parliament. In one year it will be re-elected and in all foresight right-wing extremist group will win places. Wher Polish, French and Greek nationalists speak with one voice, however, is questionable. In Nice, best-known heads were missing – Dutchman Geert Wilders was allegedly detained in short term because of an ongoing process, Matteo Salvini from Italian Lega Nord sent only a video message.

When Le Pen and hall finally sing French national anm, ir colleagues only look mutely at camera.
