Sen. Ron Wyden to host 11 town hall meetings across the state

Two of Oregon's representatives on Capitol Hill are visiting the state for town hall meetings over the next week.

Sen. Ron Wyden will host 11 sessions between Portland to Ashland. Rep. Kurt Schrader, who represents Oregon's 5th Congressional District, will also host two events -- one in Milwaukie, the other in Salem.

Wyden will first visit Oregon City High School on Saturday at 9:30 a.m.

One week later, on Feb. 25, the Democratic senator will host another town hall at David Douglas High School in Southeast Portland.

Rep. Kurt Schrader

Schrader's first event will be Feb. 21 at Alder Creek Middle School in Milwaukie. The following day, he'll host another meeting at North Salem High School. Both events start at 6 p.m.

The Oregonian/OregonLive will be at Wyden's first meeting, broadcasting live on Facebook.

The senator set an attendance record in Albany during his last town hall meeting. The Democrat-Herald reports that more than 1,500 people attended the event at Linn-Benton Community College earlier this month.

Wyden has been making waves on Capitol Hill since Donald Trump was elected president in November.

Ten days before Trump's inauguration, Wyden called on FBI Director James Comey to investigate the president's unverified ties to Russia. The next day, after Trump declared the American people didn't care about his tax returns during a press conference, the Oregon senator asked his Twitter followers to "Retweet if you care about @realDonaldTrump's tax returns."

The post has more than 100,000 retweets.

In a release, Wyden's office says the meetings are part of his pledge to visit each of Oregon's 36 counties each year. After the Oregon City town hall on Saturday, the senator will travel to Curry County where he'll visit Riley Creek School in Gold Beach. That meeting begins at 5 p.m.

Here's the rest of his schedule, which totals 11 meetings from Feb. 18 to Feb. 26:
