‘Implied threat’ over Snapchat prompts security boost at Valencia High School

VALENCIA >> The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department maintained a “uniformed presence” at Valencia High School Friday after a 15-year-old female student made what a lieutenant called an implied threat over the social media site Snapchat.

The video news company News Source LA shared the snap on Twitter. It showed a gun under a five-word slang phrase containing an obscenity, saying Friday at school would be lively.

“Tomorrow’s gonna be F------ lit,” warned the caption.

The student was questioned but not arrested by authorities after sending the picture to five friends over Snapchat Thursday, and at least one of them contacted authorities, according to Lt. Salvador Becerra of the sheriff’s Santa Clarita Station.

Friday morning, the sheriff’s department reported that detectives had determined that the threat was “not credible.”
