Possible Bison Herd Reduction at the Grand Canyon

The National Park Service at the Grand Canyon seeks public opinion on a proposal made about North Rim Bison herd reduction. Currently the herd number stands at 400 to 600 bison, park officials hope to reduce the number around 80 to 200.

The thinning of the herd can lead to natural and cultural protection of the national park. Officials also talk of the possibility of long-term management of the herd. Public opinion on the proposal may be submitted via mail, and more information is available on the NAZ today website. The online submission form will close on March 26th.
