The 14 February, the City has been banned from all european competitions organised by UEFA for the season 2020/2021 and 2021/2022, after having been found guilty of overstating the sponsorship contracts over the period 2012-2016, to make it appear that he had complied with the rules of financial fair play, which prohibit a club from spending more than it earns.

City had immediately appealed this decision. It has been reviewed by the CAS last month.
