John Ross to undergo shoulder surgery after combine, pro day

Washington's John Ross, one of the 2017 NFL Draft's top WRs, will have surgery to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder, but not until after the NFL Scouting Combine (March 3-6 on NFL Network), per NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.

Ross' agent, Brad Cicala, told Rapoport the former Huskies star will also go through a March 11 pro-day workout before undergoing the procedure a week later. Ross injured the shoulder early in the 2016 season and aggravated it in the Huskies' Dec. 31 College Football Playoff semifinal loss to Alabama, per Rapoport. The news of Ross' surgery was first reported by DraftAnalyst.com.

Ross caught 81 passes for 1,150 yards and 17 touchdowns for the Pac-12 champion Huskies last season, and is considered among the elite prospects at his position for the upcoming draft (April 27-29). He was among the fastest players in college football, and has been compared to the Washington Redskins' DeSean Jackson.

Ross did not want to miss the combine, an annual gathering of more than 300 draft prospects in Indianapolis, which is why he'll undergo the surgery after the event.
