THIS WEEK

Monday, Feb. 13, 2 p.m., Sandman Centre

Portland at Kamloops: The Winterhawks and second-place Blazers wrap up their regular-season series with a matinee game on Family Day in British Columbia. In the last meeting on February 1, Portland won 4-2 at Moda Center with Shane Farkas between the pipes.

Friday, Feb. 17, 7 p.m., Veterans Memorial Coliseum

Red Deer at Portland: The Winterhawks host the Rebels of the Central Division in the lone regular-season meeting. Third-place Red Deer is led by forward Michael Spacek, who has 65 points through 45 games.

Saturday, Feb. 18, 6 p.m., ShoWare Center, TV on KRCW

Portland at Seattle: For the third consecutive Saturday, the Winterhawks face off with the rival Thunderbirds on TV on Portland's CW. This is the first of a home-and-home as Seattle visits the Rose City the following night for the second meeting in 23 hours.

Saturday, Feb. 11, 7 p.m., ShoWare Center, TV on KRCW

Portland at Seattle: In another game televised by Portland's CW, the Winterhawks take on the rival Thunderbirds for the second Saturday in a row. First-place Seattle leads Portland by 10 points and has a game in hand on the Winterhawks. The Thunderbirds leapfrogged the Everett Silvertips into the division lead with their 6-2 win over Tri-City on Friday night. 

Friday, Feb. 10

Portland 5, Spokane 4 (SO): Joachim Blichfeld scored in a shootout as the Winterhawks (30-22-1-2) got back in the win column with a split of a home-and-home with Spokane (22-23-6-3) in front of 8,388 fans at Moda Center.

Blichfeld extended his point streak to four games with two third-period goals that pulled Portland even after trailing 4-2 after two.

Defenseman Henri Jokiharju finished with a goal and two assists, and forward Alex Overhardt notched his third consecutive two-point night with two assists.

Starting goalie Shane Farkas made 13 saves on 17 shots before yielding to Cole Kehler, who stopped all 17 shots he faced plus all three in the shootout to pick up the win in relief.

Portland leads Spokane by 10 points for the second wild-card spot in the Western Conference.

Wednesday, Feb. 8

Spokane 6, Portland 5: The visiting Winterhawks (29-22-1-2) saw their seven-game winning streak come to an end as they fell to Spokane (22-23-6-2) in front of 3,162 at Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena.

Alex Overhardt scored two goals, Colton Veloso extended his goal streak to three games and blueliner Brendan De Jong had a goal and an assist to pace the Winterhawks.

Defenseman Caleb Jones added two assists for Portland, which led 1-0, 2-1 and 4-3 before three consecutive goals in a four-minute span of the third period gave Spokane a 6-4 lead. Cole Kehler made 37 saves in the loss.

Saturday, Feb. 4

Portland 4, Seattle 3 (SO): Alex Overhardt scored early in the third period to knot it at three and had the lone goal in the shootout as the Winterhawks (29-21-1-2) beat the Thunderbirds (31-15-3-2) in front of a sold-out crowd of 10,947 at Moda Center. The seven-round shootout win was Portland's seventh consecutive victory.

Overhardt also had an assist and goalie Cole Kehler stopped all seven Seattle shootout attempts. Kehler made 51 saves to improve to 21-14-0-2. Joachim Blichfeld also had a goal and an assist as the Winterhawks pulled within 11 points of division-leading Everett.
