A newcomer joins the Post Top 10 this wee just in time for a showdown with the No. 1 team in the county.

With Wellington dropping out of the Post Top 10 following a blowout loss to Fort Pierce Central, a spot opened up for undefeated Olympic Heights, which won one game last year, to crack the top 10. But their win streak could be short-lived, as the Lions face the No. 1 Panthers at home on Friday after Dwyer escaped a close game against rival Palm Beach Gardens.
Behind Dwyer is undefeated Oxbridge Academy, who dominated Saint John Paul II Academy in their first district game of the season, and Pahokee, which shut out Clewiston on the west side of Lake Okeechobee. Boca Raton, which shut out Santaluces, sticks at No. 4 this week.
Park Vista jumps four slots up to No. 5 after upsetting Atlantic, and the Eagles drop to No. 7 after losing two straight games. Glades Central moves up to No. 6 after beating Palm Beach Central, while Palm Beach Lakes falls to No. 8 after losing to Vero Beach by two scores. Palm Beach Gardens moves up one spot after keeping up with Dwyer, and Olympic Heights rounds out the top 10.
Here is the Post Top 10 entering Week 6:
1. Dwyer (4-0)
2. Oxbridge Academy (5-0)
3. Pahokee (5-0)
4. Boca Raton (4-0)
5. Park Vista (5-0)
6. Glades Central (3-2)
7. Atlantic (2-2)
8. Palm Beach Lakes (3-2)
9. Palm Beach Gardens (2-3)
10. Olympic Heights (4-0)
Also considered: American Heritage (1-3)
Top games this week: (All games at 7 p.m. Friday unless otherwise noted)
American Heritage (1-3) at No. 2 Oxbridge Academy (5-0), Thursday, 7 p.m.: These two teams could not have opened this season on more opposite ends of the spectrum. Both had intensely difficult early schedules, but the ThunderWolves have dominated its opposition while the Stallions have suffered big losses in three of four games. Heritage has dealt with several nagging injuries this year, none more damaging than running back/safety Alec Sinkfield (No. 16 on the Big Board) dealing with turf toe. But there is a chance Sinkfield will suit up for the game against Oxbridge this Thursday, and Heritage had Week 5 off, giving the team a chance to get healthy. But even if the Stallions are at full strength, they still have to deal with a ThunderWolves defense that may be the best in the county. Through five games, Oxbridge has given up only 26 points.
No. 1 Dwyer (4-0) at No. 10 Olympic Heights (4-0): The Lions are 4-0 to start the year after winning only three games in the past three seasons combined, so this season is already a success. A win over the Panthers would almost certainly be the upset of the year. Olympic Heights has not played anyone up to Dwyer’s standards or with Dwyer’s talent. Even though the Panthers only defeated Palm Beach Gardens by five, the defense still looked good: It surrendered its first touchdown of the year before shutting down the Gators for the rest of the game. But Dwyer has gotten off to slow starts in its last three games, so maybe Olympic Heights can be the team that takes advantage of that.
No. 3 Pahokee (5-0) at No. 4 Boca Raton (4-0): Which of these teams will be the one to budge on Friday? Both sides are rolling entering this week, and both are coming off of solid shutouts last week. The Blue Devils have won all of their games by comfortable margins, save for its Week 1, six-point victory over Seminole Ridge. The Bobcats can say the same, with a two-point, comeback win over Palm Beach Gardens being the lone close contest. A match up to watch will be how Pahokee deals with Boca quarterback Micah Leon, who has shown to be a threat with both his arm and his legs.
