‘SNL’ launches on Snapchat

It’s official: “Saturday Night Live” is on Snapchat.

Continuing off last week’s viral hit with Melissa McCarthy impersonating White House press secretary Sean Spicer, the creative minds at “SNL” debuted its inaugural story for Snapchat on Friday — a 12-snap sketch starring cast members Aidy Bryant and Beck Bennett, who painfully discover that distancing themselves from President Donald Trump is no easy task.

“In SNL Stories ‘Boycott,’ a couple attempts to boycott products associated with Donald Trump, but find it harder than they thought,” Snapchat announced.

The sketch begins with Bryant and Bennett leaving a protest against Trump before hopping into an Uber, where Bennett learns on Twitter that Uber CEO Travis Kalanick is working with Trump. They then ditch the ride for a Lyft driver before learning that billionaire Peter Thiel is an investor in the company, as well as a Trump supporter.

Bryant and Bennett are next in a pedicab, which “SNL” cast member Bobby Moynihan tells them he bought on Amazon — where, to Bryant’s dismay, buyers can find a collection of Trump ties. The seemingly endless web of connections to Trump and companies that support him continue to frustrate the couple until they’re seen running out of their apartment completely nude.

“What are we doing? This isn’t accomplishing anything,” Bryant says. “Nothing’s going to change.”

Bryant then gets an alert on her phone telling her that Uber’s CEO will no longer work with the Trump administration.

“It worked, our voices matter,” a naked Bennett replies. “They listened, we’re not crazy!”

Actor Alec Baldwin, who has impersonated Trump and appeared last week to reprise his role, is slated to host “SNL” on Saturday for a record-breaking 17th time. Thanks to frequent political sketches involving Baldwin as Trump, the NBC sketch comedy series is currently enjoying its most-viewed season in 22 years.
